Important Notice - Work is underway on a review of the Suffolk Coastal District Council Local Plan. The new Local Plan will guide development in the District over the next 15 to 20 years. As part of the review, SCDC are looking for sites that have the potential for new development. This includes new housing (5+ dwellings), employment and industrial, retail, community facilities, open space and more.
Sites received will be included in the first consultation on the new Local Plan in early 2017. Sites should be submitted to the Council by Friday October 28th 2016 either by completing the online e-form or downloading site submission forms or alternatively by contacting the planning policy team. What is devolution?
Devolution is the redistribution of power and funding from central to local government.
This means that more decisions are made locally by combined authorities.
A combined authority is a partnership where councils join together to make collective decisions on matters that affect the whole area.

Wickham Market is a friendly, thriving community of around 1700 people. We have our own local school, library, GP surgery, dentist, library, shops (including a World renown quilting shop) and village hall. We are uniquely placed in a semi rural setting yet only half an hour from Ipswich, 90 minutes by train from London and well served by public transport.

Wickham Market Primary School is looking for people who could spend a couple of hours a week to listen to some of the school children read. Training will be given and you will need to go through a CRB check (the school arranges and pays for this). The children are great and enjoy the valuable experience.
